~* Thursday Thirteen - Our Weekend Get Away*~

THURSDAY THIRTEEN

Thirteen Things I Loved About Last Week's Get Away:

1. The scenery on the drive up...rolling hills; vineyards upon vineyards upon vineyards; the redwoods; the Russian River; the ocean

2. My partner (our youngest) and I being canasta champions for the. whole. weekend.!  Sweet!

3. The peacefulness... (once the youth group left ;)

4.  The C O O L weather...oh. my. word.  I LOVED the 50's and 60's weather...one 70's day snuck in...but even that...compared to our triple digits right now??? Heaven!!

5. The smells: woodburning stove; the salty/fishy ocean; the redwoods and pines

6. Taking pictures to my little hearts content...now... to get them developed and uploaded!

7.  Reading on the balcony of the cabin...surrounded by the beauty of God's creation every which way.

8. Watching the temperature plummet on our car thermometer as we got closer to our destination.  The last hour of the drive it literally dropped 36 degrees from 93 to 57!!  I was like a kid at Christmas!

9.  Listening to Randy Alcorn's Deadline on audio book on the drive.  Our family loves audio
books on road trips!

10.  Spending relaxed time with God; my honey; and the guys...no phones, internet, appts, etc.  Priceless!

11.  Breathtaking coastal views and a new-to-us trail.

12.  The ocean mist/fog rolling in and out...seeing it and feeling it.

13. The soothing sounds of nature: ocean waves, birds, crickets and ?  (I dont' know if they
have cicadas up there or what it was...but I loved the rhythmic sound it made) ...so much of
nature's sounds are soothing.

I took the top photo a couple of years ago on our vacation to the same place.  I'll be posting my most recent ones asap.
